I’m certainly pleased with how the tree is looking this year. I do hope you like the tips and if you’re decorating a Christmas twig tree this holiday, that they come in handy. This is it for me, I don’t really add anything else or the ‘cluttered’ feel of the decorations gets a little too much. It’s that easy!Īnd here’s the finished look along with a few other bits I’ve decorated in the living room. Use hot glue to attach a length of ribbon to the top of the pine cone, and simply hang it on your tree. It may sound odd, but it can add a rustic look to your holiday decoration. You could use pine cones as Christmas ornaments. Adding lights can feel cluttered and odd on a twig tree, so perhaps you could opt to put them elsewhere, like in a mantlepiece decoration. However, twig trees are different than other artificial Christmas trees, and live trees. You might already have an led twig tree that emits a warm glow on its own. I would choose a warm white, but you might be fond of different colours instead. If you can, choose one with lights, to bring a gentle glow into the room. You might not be able to decorate it, due to the much smaller twigs, but it’ll do a brilliant job at bringing a festive touch into a room. If you don’t want a full-sized twig tree, consider using a smaller tree in your Christmas decoration, perhaps as a table centrepiece. It adds a wonderful personal touch to the tree, and it’s fun looking back over your creations in the years to come. There are loads of ideas online of what you could make, and the end result is something to keep, as a memento of the Christmas time. It’s a wonderful way to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. The holidays are a time for family, so get everyone busy making some DIY decorations. I love this personalised ceramic bauble from Not on the High Street which sits beautifully in with this style and gives the tree something a little special. Personalise your tree with a few of your own little touches. Add Personalised Ornaments Suited to Your Family So, this glamorous little feather bird probably isn’t your typical scandi themed decoration but I love it, and as it’s white, it fits perfectly with everything else.Ĩ. You don’t necessarily have to stick to one theme or look, just as long as there is a common factor running through all of your decorations. Don’t be Afraid to Add Your Own Touchesĭon’t be afraid to mix things up a little bit. ![]() ![]() Just remember you can see through this tree so you need to decorate all the way round to the back! 7. You’ll actually need to spend less on your decorations overall as you really don’t need as many as you do for a traditional tree. Buy a few new ones each year to build your collection. You’ll find decorations more suited to twig trees amongst these. Use Decorations Suited to a Scandi Designįind appropriate twig tree decorations by shopping the stores and their ‘Scandi’ or ‘Minimal’ christmas tree themes. It makes me feel good and extra Christmassy. You can’t add a Star or Angel tree topper here, but I do like to hang a star decoration near the top just as a nod to the tradition. So, ensure you mix up the decorations by weight, adding only one or two heavier ones on a branch with a few or your lighter varieties. I’ve learned this the hard way having seen my branches slowly sag to the floor over time, with baubles falling and breaking in the past. Remember that these branches aren’t as sturdy as a traditional tree and can’t take too much weight. ![]() That way you can spread them evenly across the tree branches and won’t need to move things around later. This tip works on all kinds of trees to be honest, but add multiple examples of the same bauble all in one go. (Read to the end of the post to see where it’s ended up!) 2. In previous years I’ve added a lot of red but decided to leave it out this year for a change. I’ve opted for a white twig tree and metallic look with touches of black this year. These trees don’t really lend themselves to a striking bejewelled theme so keep it very straight forward. Keep the colour scheme simple and neutral. Use Decorations Suited to a Scandi Design
